2013 Phase Five Trident Pro Wakesurf Board

A Minimalist Inspired Surf Design for Everyone

By

In my experience, small independent manufacturers tend to make the best products. A young upstart company will usually put more time and effort into the development of their goods in order to make sure that every customer will be satisfied. And that certainly holds true for the young wakesurf board manufacturer, Phase Five.

Now, far be it from me to say that Phase Five has anything to prove, but if they did, then the 2013 Trident Pro Carbon Wakesurf Board would be their answer. This is an incredibly sleek wakesurf board, built for surfers who want it all in one package.

Board Profile

Rider Skill: Beginner to Advanced
Height: 60”
Construction: Carbon Fiber
Fins: Three Thruster Fins
Shape: Pointed Nose, Swallow Tail
Warranty: One Year

The Trident Pro has been completely redesigned for 2013 bringing a more dynamic shape, without sacrificing the 250 lb. rider weight limit. The stocky midsection from the 2012 Trident has been reduced to improve speed control and eliminate overall board volume.

Just by looking at the history of the Trident, you can tell that Phase Five is constantly evolving their designs to make wakesurf boards that are light, agile, and extremely stable. So after taking a first look at the 2013 Trident you can tell the developers probably made the phrase “less is more” their mantra as they were shaping it. From the engineering right down to the graphics, the Trident is a true minimalists board.

However, the greatest thing about this board is its amazing versatility. It’s big enough to carry just about any rider, but fast and stable enough to give you confidence to try new things. Or perhaps you just want to have a mellow ride with a few turns. The point is, no matter what kind of surfing mood you are in, the Trident is the swiss army knife of wakesurf boards and will satisfy even the most discerning of riders.

Primary Features

  • Light weight and thin
  • Carbon VRT Laminate with fiberglass core. The entire board is carbon fiber wrapped for added strength, stiffness and speed.
  • Dual Traction Pads that keep your feet under you with fewer slip offs.
  • Adjustable Fin Setup - Three thruster fins with a center fin that can be adjusted for each individual riders taste.
  • Tapered nose with classic swallowtail body. A traditional surf design that provides versatility and precise control.

Who’s this board for?

You would be hard pressed to find a wakesurfer who couldn’t connect with Pro Trident. It is one of the best all around boards on the market, and is probably best suited for boats with an eclectic assortment of riders.

From a beginners standpoint, this board is a dream because of its super stable nature and ample surface area to find just the right footing. Couple that with the adjustable center fin and the dynamic swallow tail shape, and you’ve got a board that can take you from beginner all the way to competent shredder.

Phase Five is a company that is dedicated to the advancement of wakesurfing, and the future looks incredibly bright for their board designs. So if the Pro Trident has peaked your interest, then check out their official website.
