Waterskiing and wakeboarding may make other sports easy. Here is a list of sports that water-skiers or wakeboarders may be good at. Doing these sports may also help water sports enthusiasts with their boat-towed sports because similar muscles are used in some of these sports.

Waterskiing and wakeboarding are individual sports, so most of the sports listed below are individual sports.

1. Downhill Snow Skiing

Similar to how wakeboarders relate to snowboarding, water-skiers often find downhill snow skiing a natural transition. Similar slalom repetitive back and forth body movements are used. Knowing how to balance on water skis transfers to snow skis.

Many wakeboarders find snowboarding a great cross-training sport since similar body movements are involved. Both sports are enjoyed by those wanting to get big air and pull off tricks. Knowing how to balance on a wakeboard or water ski transfers to a snowboard.

  • 3. Surfing

Waterskiing and wakeboarding involve standing and balancing on a board in the water, just like surfing. And wakeboarders who have already tried wake surfing, will find surfing the waves in the ocean a thrill. Most people who enjoy one water sport are likely to also enjoy other water sports.

  • 4. Skateboarding

The balance required to skateboard will probably come natural to a water-skier, and especially to a wakeboarder. Be sure to wear your helmet and other protective accessories.

Many wakeboarders and skateboarders use Indo Boards to practice balancing. Indo Boards have the feel of skateboards but have no wheels.

  • 5. Inline Skating

Having moving wheels under your feet while inline skating is similar to standing on moving water while waterskiing or wakeboarding. And both are good for working those leg muscles. Don't forget your protective equipment.

  • 6. Kayaking/Paddling

The motion of rowing a kayak uses similar muscles it takes to water ski or wakeboard. Paddlers use their hands and arms to guide a kayak and boat-towed sports enthusiasts use their hands and arms to hold on to towropes behind the boat. Abdominal muscles are key in maintaining stability and direction. If water-skiers or wakeboarders can accept the slower pace of kayaking without the roar of a boat engine, it is a nice alternative and allows you to enjoy smaller bodies of water that a motor boat can't.

  • 8. Scuba Diving

Well, you may not consider scuba diving and boat-towed sports very similar as one takes place under the water and the other is performed on top of the water. However, a lot of people who are comfortable with one type of water sport are naturally good at another water sport. If you are interested, read more on scuba diving for beginners.

  • 9. Tennis

Slalom water-skiers may find tennis easy to learn because tennis involves switching hands and arms to hit the ball depending on your position the court, and slalom water-skiers switch hands and arms when guiding themselves around the slalom course. Both require you to keep you eye on the ball (or referred to as a "buoy" in slalom).

Most any sport involves building cardio and muscle strength. To get an alternative exercise workout, try running/jogging, bicycling or mountain biking, or climbing.

Don't forget to include proper nutrition in your daily routine.
