As if Mastercraft didn’t already make our mouths water with their 2013 X Series, they’ve gone and done it again. It’s rare to have such a massive boat released mid season but this one’s a doozie. For 2014 Mastercraft has released the X-46, a 24’ 6” behemoth designed to be a (large) family friendly wakesurf powerhouse.
It has already been speculated that the X-46 will become the most popular 24 foot boat of the year, and if their track record with the X-45 is any indicator, it seems they are correct. Even though it is only 1” bigger than it’s predecessor, the X-46 brings a wealth of new features and design trademarks that you could only expect from Mastercraft.

Is it the Right Boat for You?
In a word, yes. I defy anyone to say they couldn’t picture themselves on this boat. Everything about it is so practical. For starters, take the command center. It comes standard with the Murphy 4.7” command screen (upgradable to 7” touch), and from here you can do everything. And by everything, I mean everything -- fill the ballast, save rider information, input speed control, create an epic riding playlist, mix up some new tunes, even navigate unfamiliar waters with the detailed on-screen GPS. The helm of this boat is designed to put you in control and spend less time fiddling with instruments, and more time with your family and friends.
Now what about the power? Not much has to be said, when it comes to Mastercraft. Back for 2014 is the legendary Ilmor engines that have powered Mastercraft’s for years. You have your pick of torquey to torquier. You would be hard put not to get a little excited at the sound of the Ilmor MV8 series of engines and you can get up to 524 ft lb’s of torque in this bad boy. Simply put, there is enough power to spare for you, your rider, and all 15 passengers.
Oh, and let’s not forget about the wake. The wake is eerily similar to the X-star wake, beefy, steep, and sports a crispy lip. With plenty of ballast options you can easily mellow or heighten the wake to match the skill level of your rider. So don’t be intimidated by such a world class boat, because it’s made to suit everyone.
By design, the X-46 is absolutely marvelous. The spacious twin tip pickle fork bow easily has enough room for three to five if you so desire, and the well thought out wrap around seating has room for another ten. Couple that with the dual inset wakesurf chairs, and there are no bad seats in the house.
Additionally, everything about this boat is solid, no detail has been overlooked - from the stitching in the seats to the rubber on traction pads -- this boat is 100% the heart of what Mastercraft is known for. Pair that with infinite color and graphic possibilities and you can create an X-46 that is uniquely yours.
You can build your very own customized X-46 at the official Mastercraft Website.
