When it comes to making a crowd pleasing boat versatility is the name of the game, and the 2013 Malibu Wakesetter 24 MXZ is extremely versatile. Following the huge success of the ‘12 Wakesetter 22 MXZ, Malibu decided to up the ante a little bit -- by two extra feet to be exact.
The extra large big brother of the 22 is fitted with a bountiful 102” beam and a spacious twin tip open bow, and the flip around seating layout will no doubt prevent all 18 passengers from having to play musical chairs every time someone gets ready for a tow. This boat is obviously made to tackle large groups, and the plethora of luxurious features will absolutely set it apart from the herd for 2013.

Is it the Right Boat for You?
As we already talked about, the 24 MXZ is truly designed to meet the needs of any watersport enthusiast. But make no mistake about it, this boat is really best suited for serious wakeboarders and surfers with large entourages. The flip up Wakeview seating is designed to allow everyone in the boat to watch and cheer for the new tricks that will be landed behind this monstrous wake producer.
Malibu has consistently been named an industry leader because they aren’t afraid to innovate and continually refine their boat designs year after year. It’s admirable for a company to not rest on the laurels of a previous years success (in this case the 2012 MXZ 22) and ask themselves, “how can we make this better?” And even though the 22 is back for 2013, the 24 pushes the envelope to make a truly amazing wakeboard boat.
In that same spirit of innovation, Malibu has released their new SurfGate hull attachment which is completely controlled by touch screen so the driver can hand tailor a perfect wakesurfing session without commanding people to move all over the boat. Surfgate works by shifting two plates on the back of the boat to control the keel and find just the right balance for surfing.
For the passengers and driver on board there are all of the comfortable and stylish amenities you would expect in a Malibu boat. With advanced GPS, cup holders everywhere you turn, tons of storage, bluetooth mobile connectivity, a killer sounds system, and deep cushioned wraparound seating, it might make you wish your house had the same features.
Still, as you could expect with any large boat the major drawback is price and fuel consumption. The 78 gallon tank is designed to give you extended time on the water, but filling her up isn’t the most pleasant experience for your wallet. But after you jump in, plane out, and set your sights on that renowned Wakesetter wake, you start to forget the financial jolt you just took.
In the end, it appears that Malibu has done it once again and created a revolutionary wake monster. I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t enjoy owning one. You can design and build your very own Wakesetter at the official Malibu website
