Vice President Gore Attending Wisconsin Water Ski Show

On one of his first appearances following the Democratic National Convention, Vice President and presidential candidate, Al Gore, will be treated in Wisconsin to a performance by the Mississippi Blackhawks Show Team on Friday, August 18. The show is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., with Gore arriving around 6:30 p.m. on a boat ride down the Mississippi from LaCrosse to Prairie Du Chien. He'll be escorted by the show's final pyramid into the channel leading to Prarie Du Chien.

The event is expected to draw several thousand spectators hoping to catch a glimpse of Gore. The Secret Service has been involved in the planning of the show which should prove to be quite a media event.

The Wisconsin Water Ski Federation web site reports, "Vice-President Gore's family is no stranger to water skiing. His oldest daughter Karenna is a past Tennessee state water ski champion. The Aug. 10 issue of Time magazine has a feature article (3rd page, 3rd paragraph) on Karenna and elaborates on her water skiing and how at Harvard she was 'known as the girl with long hair and sandals who kept water skis under her bed'.

In 1999 the Wisconsin Water Ski Federation received a letter of commendation from V.P. Gore saluting our efforts to hold our first Junior Development Camp."
