Bryan "Bee Why" Hughes is a water sports enthusiast from western North Carolina who loves teaching people of all ages how to wakeboard and waterski.
Bryan first started waterskiing when he was 10 years old, and switched to wakeboarding at age 12. At age 18, he and his brother Josh put together a summer wake training program on the Chatuge Reservoir in Hayesville, NC. Bryan spends every summer helping riders of all ages to progress their abilities. Now, as a certified wake instructor and boat driver, Bryan continues to find new opportunities within the water sports world. He has even had a chance to swap stories with X Games wakeboard champion, Danny Harf.
By Bryan Hughes:
Ever since I first stood up on a pair of waterskis, I have been hooked on water sports. I can vividly remember the overwhelming feeling of joy that I felt as I was skimming across the water. The happiness I experienced that day is something that I love passing to others, and it thrills me to vicariously re-live that day every time I watch someone stand up for the first time. Since then, I have switched to wakeboarding as my water sport of choice, but I still have a great fondness for all water sport disciplines.
I can think of no better way to spend a summer than riding behind a boat, and I'm eager to help the About.com community as the waterskiing guide. Please feel free to contact me if I can help you with your riding.
