Wake Goes Mobile: Wake Trick Guru

By November 30, 2012

Follow me on:

Wake Trick GuruI used to prefer to leave my phone behind when going out for a wakeboard session. There was no real purpose to have it, as long as somebody brought a phone for emergencies then we were okay. But now, mobile apps are integrated into just about everything we do, including wakeboarding and waterskiing. So starting today, I will begin sifting the wheat from the chaff when it comes to mobile apps for watersports.

First up is an app called Wake Trick Guru, and as the name implies -- it's like having a wakeboard mentor right in your pocket. Each trick in the app is presented with a video of a pro performing it, and some helpful written tips to assist you in perfecting it. There is a vast collection of tricks and tips from beginners all the way to advanced riders. Although there are some free tricks that come with the app, you do have to make a $2.99 USD in app purchase to unlock all of the videos. Not a bad price at all for a full compendium of wakeboard knowledge.

The app also sports a variety of other great features including a directory for wakeboard gear and boat manufacturers, schools and camps, cable parks, and local pro shops. The videos also feature revered pro's like Tarah and Cobe Mikacich, Amber Wing, Daniel Watkins, and Dean Smith.

At the moment the app is only available on iPhone and you can download it directly from the app store.
